A way to get started meditating:

Find a relatively quiet spot.
Close your eyes.
Take one long, deep breath.

Now continue to breath normally and try to count each exhale.
When you reach tenth exhale start over at number one.

If you loose track, drift off or get confused start again at number one.
The goal is more to notice when you drift off and to start again than it is to reach number ten.

Try to do this for twenty minutes, twice a day.
