Erik Fabian

Summary: In 2000, Erik Fabian founded the BigShowCity performance festival in Olympia, Washington. He has held leadership roles with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, SOFA Expo Chicago, the World Business Forum, Intuit Gallery and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Erik is a trained artist and performer as well as a top salesman, an experienced public speaker, and a multi-media savvy, creative thinker.

Four-month Art History lecture class introducing Western and non-Western art from cave painting to contemporary work, focusing on transferable critical thinking and writing skills.

- Artistic Director for UnderRock Productions LLC.
Produced media presentations, composed art history presentation on Chicago Painting, event design, and coordinated technical production. Event consultation.

- Founded and Co-Directed the BigShowCity performance festival in Olympia, Washington.
Presented more than a hundred performances, across seven venues, over two years.

Located yellow school buses for the tour and coordinated location support.

- Room managed speakers’ lunch at the 2004 World Business Forum Chicago for speakers Larry Bossidy and Jack Welch.

- Managed day of lecture and panel presentations at the 2004 SOFA Expo Chicago
Provided media support and oriented speakers, including renowned sculpture Albert Paley, leading educators, curators and artists from the Craft Arts field.

- Facilitated Unlucky in Love, a Valentines Day event at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Ran organizational meetings, coordinated marketing and media.
Saved the Performance Department 15% of their funding costs through in-kind donation solicitation and instituting ticket pricing changes.

- Performance Department Graduate Assistant for two years at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Oversaw graduate performance space. Responsibilities included maintaining the space’s usage schedule, and facilitating maintenance and events.
Negotiated with the school’s computer services department to upgrade the department’s computer system.
Facilitated the upgrade of the lighting and electrical systems in the performance space.

- Managed four volunteers for Redmoon Theater’s outdoor production of Sink, Sank, Sunk.
