Economic activity is marked by inflationary and deflationary periods.
Art has a distinct character in both periods. Currently we are in
an inflationary period, not just in the United States but globally.
Inflation is particularly apparent in the art market.
Inflation is not a new phenomenon
nor is it simply a rise in prices. Inflation is the dilution of value
of a currency. In the United States, for instance, it is becoming evident
that the U.S. dollar is rapidly losing its value in comparison to other
currencies and commodities, including the consumer goods we buy every
day. I am creating work in response to these economic conditions and
their evolving social ramifications.
