Silver Ticket Project
In 2005, I began ask questions about how value is assigned to art and
how art fits economically into contemporary Western capitalist society.
I began to wonder how the relatively ethereal production of performance
could be economically accounted for without losing the immediacy, liveness
and presence of live performance.
To engage these notions of value and materiality within an economic
system I began to tie my work to precious metals. My focus is on silver
and gold, on the context of their production, control and consumption.
One of the first products of this ongoing research is a "silver
ticket", a one-ounce bar of .999 pure silver.
These silver tickets can be understood as holding a variety of conceptual,
aesthetic and economic values which I will explore through a series
of performances and the writings which will be posted on this website.
Holders of these tickets are invited to join in the exploration of
these ideas, to evaluate my efforts and invest themselves in the continuing
development of the work. In kind, I hope to will be able to participate
and invest in your work and dreams as well.
